Spring is budding
A few sure signs of spring. The hazelnut buds are just starting to swell. Getting days just above zero. Still lots of snow.
It’s been blooming cold
The amaryllis bulbs are taking turns and producing second flower stalks. It has been non stop for a month! This week’s beauty.

Most snow fall in 24 hours
Toronto set a new record for snow. Likely close to 60cm and then some drifting. Light and fluffy and major cold -20C
Only thought about the garden twice today, ha
22cm of snow!
Winter had a big day yesterday. Lots of snow – almost 10 inches of nice fluffy easy to shovel snow. Chilly at -11C . A bit more snow expected with temperatures seesawing to above zero and back down.
A large hawk sat in the Sycamore tree for two days before the snow. A lot of bird shit for one animal. Delighted to host an apex predator!
